Political Quotes About Active Political Life

Have you ever thought about why you should take part in politics? Well, the answer is here!

Recently I've written an article on funny political quotes. But I don't think that one can truly respect them and laugh truly, unless he first understands the politics itself. It is an intriguing affair, one which some almost see as a game. A game with high stakes, but game nonetheless.

My grandfather often used to say that a modern man cannot and should not live his life without thinking about, and even actively participating in politics. If we are to live our lives and take care of ourselves, we need to take action and decide for ourselves. We need to be active political b1eings.

This attitude had tremendous influence on my life, obviously. I read and learn a lot about politics. And in all these lessons, from time to time, I find some curious quotes about politics. These are the ones I've decided to share with you today:

Martin L. Gross

We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.

Aesop

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken

The heaviest penalty for declining to rule is to be ruled by someone inferior to yourself.

Plato

You may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time.

Abraham Lincoln

What right does Congress have to go around making laws just because they deem it necessary?

Marion Barry

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.
Ronald Reagan

Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other.

R. A. Butler

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Lord Acton

The whole art of politics consists in directing rationally the irrationalities of men.

Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right.
H.L. Mencken

What do you think? Are you an active political human, or are you more of a "just lead me" type? The answer should be obvious, but let me know if you disagree.
